Snowater Association held its annual general meeting this year as a virtual zoom call on December 5. Participation was about 50% greater than recent years’ in-person meetings held in the Clubhouse. It may be beneficial to maintain some form of virtual involvement for future AGM’s.
The board and management team presented their annual reports, plans, budgets and assessment schedules for 2021 and answered questions at the end of the meeting.
In addition to sharing plans, updates and answering questions, the main goals of the AGM are for the building chairs to vote their shares on budget resolutions, to elect board directors and to provide the names of their building chairperson and secretary in 2021.
All budget resolutions were passed, and Phil Decker and Jim Meith were re-elected to the board for 3-year terms. The draft minutes of the AGM will soon be posted in the Owner Info section of the website in the SA AGM Documents folder. If you were unable to attend the AGM, please have a look at the minutes to see what was discussed. On a very positive note, all buildings will be paying lower quarterly assessments in 2021 than they did in 2020.
The new slate of Building Chairs and Secretaries is posted in the Owner Info section, so please find out who your building reps are and direct any concerns or questions to them.
After the AGM, the board met to assign roles for the coming year. Phil Decker agreed to take on the president’s role for 2021 and I will be VP. The other three board members will continue in the same roles as last year: Tom Stuen as treasurer, Ed Tebrock as Secretary and Jim Meith as member at large.
Most of goals I had set for Snowater five years ago have been achieved, so I felt it was time to turn the reins over to someone else. We have a well-functioning management team and staff at Snowater, our budgets are in fine shape and the major refurbishment process that was necessary is well underway.
I have been honored to serve Snowater for three years as treasurer and the last two years as president. I will stay actively involved on the board overseeing capital projects and marketing activities, but the role as leader is now in Phil’s hands. He is capable, young, committed to Snowater and has a fantastic management style. Let’s all give him our total support moving forward.
And while we are all planning a very different Christmas and Holiday season, let’s all stay safe and abide by our health officials’ guidelines, so we can come back stronger than ever in 2021. Look forward to seeing you all at Snowater by mid-summer 2021.
