The SA Board of Directors periodically reviews the SA Rules & Regulations. In 2018, the R&Rs were reviewed in depth, and were updated to incorporate the use of parking passes for owners, guests, and vendors. This update arose from a view that parking passes would not only support compliance with the license plate registration requirement, but would also have separate and independent value, such as in the following types of situations:
After hours (when the license plate/registration roster is not available)
– vehicle lights on, or trunk left open
– vehicle poses immediate safety concern, such as parking in a fire lane
– Staff or a vendor needs access to a particular location, and the vehicle is in the way
– vehicle otherwise improperly parked (and it can’t wait until morning)
Working hours
– “backup” – in case the license plate/registration roster is incorrect or missing (or power outage)
– vehicle poses immediate safety concern
– convenience (the passes enable Staff to contact the unit without needing to do a “lookup” in the Front Office).
– Staff able to “remind” owners and guests about the need to register. (If Staff sees a vehicle without a pass, Staff can put a reminder note on the windshield. )
In the short, the parking passes are utilized for “at a glance” identification when a situation needs prompt action, or when the license plate roster is not readily available.
Currently, only about 25% of full share owners have properly registered their vehicles. In the event of a serious issue with a vehicle, such as a safety concern, Staff needs the ability to contact the appropriate unit.
